Tender Opportunity: Heritage Condition Assessment

We’re inviting tenders from experienced contractors to carry out a desktop-based mapping assessment of the Tees catchment, identifying priority areas at risk from invasive non-native plant species (INNS).

The aim of this project is to map the distribution of invasive non-native plant species (INNS) across the Tees Catchment, identify priority areas at risk, and implement strategic interventions to reduce their impact on the environment. The primary focus is to safeguard the natural and cultural heritage at risk, protecting the rich biodiversity and landscape character of the Tees Catchment from the damaging spread of INNS.

This project takes a catchment-wide approach to addressing INNS, combining intelligence gathering, community engagement, habitat restoration, and practical intervention. By understanding the extent of INNS across the catchment and prioritising key areas for action, the project will not only protect biodiversity and improve habitat quality but also empower communities to play an active role in safeguarding their local environment.

Key focus areas include:

  • The Teesdale Way
  • SSSIs & conservation sites
  • Potential Local Nature Recovery Strategy sites
