Volunteer and Engagement Officer (maternity cover)

Choose a career that makes a big impact!

Over the last 20 years, the South East Rivers Trust (SERT) has engaged with more than 7,000 volunteers to help make a big difference for our local rivers and wildlife. Through our volunteer programme, over 40,000 hours have been donated to clean-up rivers, plant trees and shrubs, host river restoration events, conduct invasive species management, run citizen science programmes, and deliver guided walks and workshops.

We are looking for an experienced, engaging, confident and highly motivated person to join our expanding Working with Communities Team as a Volunteer & Engagement Officer (maternity cover). In this role you will develop and deliver hands-on volunteering and community outreach activities and events, across the south east of England, that connect people with rivers -- serving to inspire a lifelong love of river stewardship.

The role would suit someone who is naturally outgoing with a great love of the outdoors and nature. You should have significant experience of volunteer management (both in the practical delivery and administrative areas), and be comfortable engaging with local communities and businesses to develop and nurture partnerships. Although this is a maternity cover role, this is an exciting time to join SERT as we have big plans to expand our volunteering and community outreach in terms of geography, demography and impact, to better reflect the communities that reside in our catchment areas.
