Social Media Terms and Conditions
1- The promoter is: The Rivers Trust (Company registration number: 05136671, Registered charity number: 1107144 whose registered office is at Rain-Charm House, Kyl Cober Parc, Callington, Cornwall, PL17 8PH, United Kingdom.
2- The competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom and Ireland aged 18 years or over, except employees of The Rivers Trust and their close relatives and anyone otherwise connected with the organisation or judging of the competition.
3- There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.
4- By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
5- Route to entry for the competition and details of how to enter are via https://www.instagram.com/theriverstrust/
6- A maximum of two entries will be accepted per person. The two methods of entry are detailed below. Additional entries from the same person will be disqualified.
7- Closing date for entry will be 09/05/24. After this date no further entries to the competition will be permitted.
8- No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.
9- The rules of the competition and how to enter are as follows:
One prize bundle can be won in this competition, which will be run on the social media platform, Instagram. On Instagram, participants must ‘follow’ @theriverstrust on Instagram, and also ‘like’, and ‘comment’ under the Instagram competition post by tagging a friend that they would like to participate in the Big River Watch with. Completion of all of these actions counts as one entry.
For a second entry, participants can additionally comment on the same Instagram competition post sharing details of what they saw by their local river when they participated in the Big River Watch. This entry is only valid if the criteria for the first entry is also met.
10- The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God, or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the promoter’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the promoter.
11- The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.
12- The prize bundle is as follows:
- 1 year subscription to Outdoor Swimmer Magazine
- Water bottles and a teeshirt from British Rowing
- Rower's Revive organic hand & body wash and lotion from Henley Naturals & Henley Royal Regatta
The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The prizes are not transferable. Prizes are subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.
13- The winner will be chosen at random by software, from all entries received and verified by The Rivers Trust.
14- The winner will be notified by direct message on the platform that they entered the competition through (Instagram) within 1 week of the closing date. The winner will only ever be contacted by The Rivers Trust. The Rivers Trust will make all reasonable efforts to contact the winner. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner selected from the correct entries that were received before the Closing Date.
15- The promoter will notify the winner and request a postal address to which the prize can be delivered.
16- The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
17- By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
18- The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by [English] law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of [England].
19- The winner agrees to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material, as well as their entry. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current [UK] data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.
20- Limitation of liability. Insofar as is permitted by law, The Rivers Trust, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of The Rivers Trust, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
21- Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
22- This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram, or any other Social Network. You are providing your information to The Rivers Trust and not to any other party.
23 - Data protection and publicity. The Rivers Trust will only process your personal information as set out in the Privacy Policy. See also condition 3 and condition 6.4, with regard to the announcement of winners.
24- General. If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, The Rivers Trust may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the competition.
