Finance and Grants Assistant

The Salary: £26,423 — £29,203 We have an exciting opportunity to join the South East River’s Trust’s Finance and Operation’s Team. The team supports the organisation with a broad range of financial and administrative tasks, to ensure its smoothed running, development and growth. The role would suit an individual with a financial background, who is approachable and organised, with excellent attention to detail, able to work on their own or as part of a team. The role will report directly to the Finance Manager and will provide support in administering all financial controls and processing for the organisation. The successful applicant will come from a financial background and have a strong understanding of financial principles with an accounting qualification. They will have experience in bookkeeping, reconciling accounts as well as dealing with banking, grant applications and expenses. Whilst this role focuses on the financial aspects of SERT, it will also play a key part in supporting with the set up of IT equipment, new financial systems and general IT queries, with help from our external IT supplier. To be successful, they will need to be able to multitask, have excellent communication skills and the ability to support and advise staff across all teams. They will need to have a positive attitude, be proactive and supportive in assisting the whole team with other administrative tasks as and when required. This role is predominantly working from home, with at least one day per week working in the office in Leatherhead. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a small dynamic team, sitting at the heart of the organisation, making a real difference for the environment and the rivers in the south east of England. This is a full time position, however part time working of 4 days per week (0.8FTE) would be considered.

HR Manager

We are recruiting for a HR Manager. This is a permanent contract, after a successful six-month probation period. The role is 30 hours per week, which can be worked over four days, or flexibly over five days. The starting salary for this role is between £35,000 to £40,000 per annum FTE28,000 to £32,000 per annum for 30 hours per week), depending on experience. The HR Manager will report to the Head of Resources and will line manage the HR Officer. They will collaborate with colleagues across our Shared Services team and work closely with line managers to provide professional and pragmatic advice on all aspects of people management, reflecting current employment legislation and good practice. This role will require the role holder to be able to work autonomously using their own initiative with a professional, approachable, manner. The HR Manager will work closely with the Head of Resources to develop and continuously improve the HR service provided to the Trust. Our aim is to create a positive and supportive work environment, to be an employer of choice while adopting a proactive strategic approach to wellbeing, talent, development, retention, and employee relations. At the Trust, we support hybrid working with the opportunity to work from home. The HR Manager will be expected to come into the office at least one day a week with occasional travel to off-site meetings, employment law updates, team and Trust away days etc. Our office is at Stoke Climsland, near Callington. Responsibilities:• Build and maintain relationships with line managers to provide support including giving professional pragmatic HR advice and guidance in all areas of HR policy and practice.• Manage, develop, and monitor HR processes and support line managers throughout the full employee lifecycle (e.g. recruitment, on-boarding, induction, probation, exit interviews), with assistance from the HR Officer.• Help to build confidence and capabilities within line managers at the Trust, enabling managers to deal with people management issues confidently and appropriately.• Support the Head of Resources to develop, and continuously improve, the quality and value of the HR service provided to the Trust. Digital Marketing and Fundraising Senior Officer

We are looking for a proactive and passionate individual with a strong background in digital marketing and fundraising to help us bring rivers back to life. Our rivers face more threats than ever. SERT’s Working with Communities Team educates and engages local communities and other stakeholders who have the power, influence (and money!) to help make our rivers thrive again. This role will play a key part in making this happen by helping us reach more people from a wider range of audiences, and connecting them to the issues facing rivers, the solutions that will make a difference and by raising our profile in the expert delivery of them. This new role within our Working with Communities Team will develop and implement a digital strategy to amplify and support SERT’s presence through increased brand profile, supporter acquisition and engagement and donated revenue. This will involve creating and managing online marketing and fundraising campaigns for the Trust across our digital platforms that grow support for our mission, generate income, reach new audiences and promote the value of the South East’s rivers. The role will refine the Trust’s existing supporter journey to increase donor revenue making use of its established channels (organic social media, newsletter, website) as well as researching and implementing new channels such as paid advertising, SEO, online campaigns (including crowdfunding) and new social platforms. You will also find creative and compelling ways to talk about our work, share case studies and successes and make our website the go-to resource for expert and inspiring information about rivers and how to help them. The ideal candidate would have a background in marcoms and fundraising for non-profits, be a compelling storyteller, and be highly confident and competent in digital communications.
