Project Manager — Catchment Partnerships

As Catchment Partnership host in the SUNO (Swale, Ure, Nidd and Ouse) and WLO (Wharfe and Lower Ouse) catchments, Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust are seeking an energetic, experienced and committed person to join our Senior Catchment Partnership Manager in managing and continuing to develop our Catchment Partnerships portfolio, across a diverse landscape of rural and urban river catchments. This exciting opportunity will include responsibilities for the strategic development and implementation of our two catchment partnerships known collectively as the Dales to Vales Rivers Network (DVRN). Our primary aim is to deliver the Catchment Based Approach and tangible on-the-ground improvements that achieve clean, healthy rivers which deliver social benefits for our communities. The successful candidate will have operational experience at catchment level. The candidate will take a strategic overview of both catchment partnerships and guide our growing Catchment Partnerships team, enabling the enhanced delivery of the four priority themes: – Stakeholder and Community Engagement, including the development of stakeholder groupsProject Development, leading to deliverySecuring funding for project development and deliveryKnowledge sharing, to bring people together in a way of working that is inclusive, collaborative, cross boundary and catchment wide. Head of Philanthropy & Fundraising

We are seeking a highly organised, efficient and dynamic individual to take on a brand-new role co-ordinating and driving core fundraising for the Westcountry Rivers Trust, by building on the wave of interest in the plight of our Westcountry rivers. We have had considerable success with securing project funding over the last 30 years and have achieved rapid growth in delivery and impact as a result, but this only allows us to deliver what others want to fund and it is not always possible to get project funding to cover what we would like to achieve. Therefore, we need to increase core voluntary income for key activities such as maximising our education and engagement as well as supporting core functions and project development. The successful candidate has the support and opportunity to sculpt this approach into a significant part of the Trusts future. You should ideally have excellent people, planning and project management skills, with a proven track record in core charity fundraising. You will also have a strong commitment to our mission and a good understanding of environmental issues. Due to the importance of this function, you will be reporting directly to the Chief Executive but will link into the Trust’s communications strategy and approach. If successful, we intend to grow and expand this role into a directorial position linked to our communication and advocacy work, depending on how significant this approach is compared to our current project grant and services work. This pivotal position is responsible for ensuring the effective coordination and cohesion of core operational functions across the Trust. You will lead our HR, IT, Health & Safety, and Site Management/​Assets functions, supporting the successful delivery of our new five-year charity plan. As a member of the Management Team, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight, while ensuring operational delivery aligns with the charity’s goals. Senior Project Manager (WaterGrid — EU Horizon Porject)

The Westcountry Rivers Trust is leading an exciting 4‑year, €8m European Horizon project with a 22-partner consortium from 13 countries using Nature Based Solutions (NBS) to manage water resources, called WaterGrid (see single page summary). Whilst there is external professional project support through a technical consultant, the Trust is looking for an experienced project manager with excellent management and communication skills. General Information The National Lottery funded A Wilder Walkmill’ project aims to improve Walkmill Community Woodlands, near Moresby, Whitehaven for people and wildlife and encourage greater use of this fabulous community resource. Walkmill Community Woodland is a vital and much-loved open space and is important because of its significant natural and industrial heritage. A Wilder Walkmill’ aims to improve access for all, create new and improved habitats to support nature recovery, increase volunteering opportunities, events and activities for the local community, and provide education sessions and forest schools. Job Purpose and Summary To carry out practical hands on’ conservation works at Walkmill Community Woodland and other areas throughout Cumbria. To gain relevant qualifications in countryside, environmental and land-based management studies – The Countryside Worker L2 Qualification — in partnership with a training provider (confirmation of college yet to be finalised). As part of the scheme, you will be expected to attend college classes for a week at a time at set times of the year or one day every fortnight. You will also get the opportunity to work with other rivers trusts in Cumbria as well as the National Trust, Cumbria Wildlife Trust, and the Lake District National Park, among others.
