Health and Safety Manager

About us Thames21 is a dynamic, rapidly developing and highly successful environmental charity which is committed to transforming the River Thames and its tributaries, working hand in hand with communities. The charity will deliver increasingly resilient and healthy rivers in landscapes that are closer to their natural state with an abundance of fish and wildlife; empowering and working with people to bring multiple benefits to the natural environment, to individuals and to our communities. The role We are looking for an experienced part-time NEBOSH or IOSH qualified Health and Safety Manager, who will lead manage and develop our health and safety requirements and responsibilities around working outside and around water. We have a health and safety management plan which following on from our Health and Safety audit, has outlined the framework for this role and what is needed to be implemented over the next 12 months. Main duties and responsibilities Work with both Head of HR and Operations Manager on certain aspects of office Health & Safety with as and where necessaryProject manage and deliver all requirements of the new created H&S Management PlanWork with managers on Construction Design Management (CDM) health and safetyTrack and ensure that risk assessments are being completed within teams for events and elsewhere where required in Thames21Work with HR and line managers to ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) are created, updated and reviewed periodicallyDeliver the H&S induction session with new joiners when and where applicableWork with the Operations Manager to ensure vehicle checks are conducted in accordance with the vehicles policy, and that all drivers are trained in the use of the inspection checklists and all aspects of vehicle inspection.Compile a quarterly incident report to the Head of HRManage the incident reporting system, escalating serious incidents (including risks) to senior managementManage a programme of safety audits to reporting these to the management teamManage and run the quarterly H&S group meetings and keep track of progress of actions that have been assignedConduct training sessions on other related health and safety as and when requiredOther duties commensurate with the role To apply for this role, please send an updated CV along with a covering letter of no more than two sides, stating why you feel you have the necessary skills, attributes and experience for this position and please email your CV and covering letter to recruitment@​thames21.​org.​uk.
