We are delighted to see Jonathan White recognised with an OBE for river conservation in the recent honours list.

As the current president of The Rivers Trust, and former chair of both The Rivers Trust and Severn Rivers Trust, Jonathan has long been a passionate and dedicated champion for our waterways.

Reflecting on his OBE, Jonathan said:

"I’m deeply honoured to be appointed an OBE in the New Year Honours List. This award really belongs to the many committed people I’ve had the privilege to work with across The Rivers Trust Movement — staff, trustees, and volunteers alike.

"Their dedication to restoring and protecting our rivers is both inspiring and essential. It’s encouraging to see the importance of healthy rivers recognised in this way, and I hope the award helps draw further attention to the urgent challenges our rivers face.”

From strengthening The Rivers Trust Movement from within to his work as a generous supporter and fundraiser, Jonathan has made a real and lasting impact in the fight for healthier rivers.

We are grateful for his commitment and proud to see his efforts recognised.
