The Rivers Trust has joined as a non-profit partner of 1% for the Planet and is now eligible to receive donations from 1% member companies.
1% for the Planet is a leading a network of businesses, non-profits, and individuals working together for a healthy planet. Launched in 2002, by founder and owner of Patagonia, Yvon Chouinard, 1% for the planet has helped to direct hundreds of millions of dollars into environmental non-profits around the world.
Brands who join 1% for the Planet, give 1% of their sales annually to a chosen non-profit organisation, dedicated to protecting the environment.
Through this programme, we are delighted that Tees based clothing brand Set, will be the first organisation donating 1% of their profits directly to The Rivers Trust movement. This donation will help us to continue to take vital action in protecting and improving rivers across the UK and Ireland for future generations.
Jack, owner of Set Clothing, said: “We plan on working actively with The Rivers Trust to improve our river networks in the UK, the clothing industry is the largest polluter of micro-plastics into our waterways and we want to help to reverse that, improve our rivers and make a difference.”
Alex Adam, Head of Water Stewardship, said: “We are really excited to be a part of 1% for the Planet network. We often describe the Rivers Trust movement as a group of organisations who get things done, we work hard on the ground to improve and protect rivers and any donations we receive through this network, will help us continue to make a significant difference to river environments across the UK and Ireland.”
