The Rivers Trust at Hay Festival

The Rivers Trust is partnering with the world-renowned Hay Festival for the second time in 2024.

River-themed Make & Take sessions

The Make & Take Hub on site offers an opportunity to get crafting! There are three Make & Take crafting sessions each day, for children aged 3–11 years. Activities and themes differ every day, including everything from print-making to sculpture creation using recycled materials. Get messy and creative with our team of artists: your imagination is the limit.

On Monday 27th May, the Make & Take sessions are delivered in partnership with The Rivers Trust and our virtual ambassador Scout! Attendees will be able to get stuck into various river-themed craft activities and STEAM demonstration activities with The3Engineers. Find out more about Make & Take here.

What would a sustainable economy look like? How could we live within our environmental means? Sir Dieter Helm explains what it would take to properly maintain different types of capital, why polluters would have to pay, why the current generation would have to fund the necessary maintenance of our natural assets and why we would have to save to invest. Author of Net Zero and The Carbon Crunch, Helm is Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Oxford. From 2012 to 2020 he was Independent Chair of the UK Natural Capital Committee, providing advice to the government on the sustainable use of natural capital. His latest book is Legacy: How to Build the Sustainable Economy and he is in conversation with Mark Lloyd, CEO of The Rivers Trust. Find out more about this event here.
