Programme and Projects Manager

Scope and remit We are seeking a Programme and Projects Manager to join our fantastic team. At the Aire Rivers Trust, we’re the only environmental charity dedicated to looking after the Aire and its tributaries. We work to improve our rivers through habitat enhancement, reducing pollution, and improving access and education. We aim to punch above our weight with exciting new projects across the catchment, from the stunning Malham Cove to the hidden Bradford Beck. Our most important asset is our people: we want to recruit the best. You will join a friendly and committed team of experts passionate about improving the River Aire and the streams that feed it. About the role Working with the Trust Manager, you will help create a sensible balance between the achievable and the ideal. You will be the first port of call for the Trust’s talented and dedicated staff, supporting them to deliver a range of projects within budget and on time. You will be responsible for planning, progressing, and auditing the trust’s work programme, coordinating others’ skills, and balancing the Trust’s varied workload. What you bring to the Trust We seek an organized, thorough, calm individual who can keep abreast of all work streams and keep tasks and budgets on track. Your strong financial and leadership skills will support our environmental experts in improving the environmental quality, flood risk, and quality of life along our river. We’re looking for: Demonstrable track record of managing a concurrent mix of projects to achieve overlapping and discrete aims.Strong financial management skills and the ability to manage multiple budgets to achieve maximum value.Ability to communicate effectively with integrity, tact and diplomacy.Experience with a collaborative approach to working and leading colleagues.Strong track record of problem-solving between conflicting priorities. Experience working for a small charity is desirable. As is some interest and experience in the environmental sector. Communications Assistant

We’re looking for a great communicator to bring our exciting Access to Eden: Breaking barriers, building bridges partnership project to life. You’ll create and distribute engaging content across a wide range of digital and traditional media channels that will enthuse and empower target audiences to get closer to Eden’s rivers and nature. You’ll monitor the results to ensure that outcomes are met and refine future activity to create even more impact. Sustainable Agriculture Officer

Norfolk Rivers Trust is seeking a highly motivated individual to join their Farm and Land Management Team as a Sustainable Agriculture Officer, this exciting new role will help agri-business in Norfolk and the Cam & Ely Ouse catchments meet the target of producing fresh food with sustainable water management. The East of England is one of the largest producers of root vegetables, fresh produce, poultry and pork yet receives the lowest annual rainfall in the UK. Increasingly unpredictable weather patterns are causing significant challenges for sustainable food production. Heavy rainfall over short periods of time during winter often leads to high soil loss, water pollution and reduced aquifer recharge. Reduced storage of water in the aquifers together with drier, warmer summers can lead to greater water scarcity, a real concern for the UK food and drink sector. Through the Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) and The Courtauld Commitment 2030 to reduce water stress, collective action is required to collaborate with other initiatives that are on-going in Norfolk to act as a catalyst for system changes in key supply chains. This role requires an individual with the ability to engage with growers, processors and retailers, facilitating knowledge exchange and promoting a shift to more regenerative farming practices. Ecologist

Norfolk Rivers Trust’s ambition is to deliver catchment-scale change to our water environment, protecting our watercourses from pollution, improving habitat and ecological functioning of streams and rivers, and enhancing resilience to climate change. It’s an exciting time for the Trust, having expanded to a team of 30 since its inception in 2011. We are currently delivering major projects such as river re-meandering and floodplain re-connections, providing farming and land management advice, establishing new constructed wetlands, reintroducing species, and engaging with the community. The Rivers Ecology team, comprised of six dedicated members, undertakes consultancy work on behalf of Norfolk Rivers Trust, with all profits donated to the Trust. With our workload on the rise, we are now seeking an organised, self-motivated and experienced ecologist to join our team. The successful applicant will primarily be completing baseline habitat surveys to support landscape recovery projects. Additionally, they will undertake protected species surveys and habitat assessments to contribute to the various exciting projects underway at Norfolk Rivers Trust and Rivers Ecology.
